Sex.com Auction A Fraud

from the stupid-marketing-tricks dept

The saga of Sex.com continues, but this time having nothing to do with lawsuits. Apparently, a lot of hype was generated when a company announced they were running an auction to sell of the domain name. Bidding went as high as $85 million before the company admitted the whole thing was a hoax and that they had made up the entire auction. Sex.com wasn’t for sale, and the owner (though, who really owns it is still a question) hadn’t contacted this company to set up the auction. File this one under stupid publicity stunts.
