Southern Comfort's Internet Hangover
from the hello,-parody! dept
Some people are way too serious. They tend to have little to no sense of humor, and when they come across parodies they miss the point altogether (just ask me about some of the responses I’ve gotten to GeekGirlServices.com). However, when a parody of a Southern Comfort ad was mistaken as the real thing by a feminist magazine in San Francisco, trouble ensued. Someone sent the magazine an image off the web with a picture of Southern Comfort and the caption: “Liquid Panty Remover”. The magazine printed the ad along with contact info for the PR director at the company that makes Southern Comfort. Not surprisingly, the PR director was inundated by emails and faxes trashing him for putting up such an ad. It took the magazine six months to issue and apology, and they say they no longer accept submissions from the web.

disappointment
How many feminists drink Southern Comfort? The number surely approaches zero. It’s a good old boy drink. A feminist boycott wouldn’t hurt them a bit — unless they’re part of some larger company that also sells tampons.
Southern Comfort should’ve embraced this slogan.

Hey Mike, why don’t you share with us some of the serious responses for your Geekgirservice.com? Has any girl approached you and seriously asked how to become attractive to Geeks?
Re: disappointment
