What Went Wrong At 3Com

from the perception-problems dept

A quick look at why 3Com is struggling more than its competitors. The analsysis suggests that 3Com mistakenly gave off the impression that they were only interested in the low end of the market, and therefore lost many of its bigger corporate customers. Its funny how no matter what companies do, someone will interpret it poorly. If they had stuck with supplying larger companies, I would bet that the same analyst would berate them for being “too unfocused”. 3Com apparently took a chance, and misread the market. The article is right, however, in saying that they’re probably a good acquisition target for one of the more successful networking companies.
