GM Experiments With Direct Sales In Brazil

from the pissing-off-your-dealers dept

GM is experimenting with selling cars directly over the web in Brazil. So far it’s been a somewhat successful trial. Over 50% of the cars they’re selling (of this particular model) were sold online. If you buy the car online, it’s much cheaper. Of course, the article doesn’t have much to say about how the local dealers feel about this. At the end of the article they have a quote from a spokes person for the National Automobile Dealer Association in the US reassuring everyone that GM would never be so foolish as to try such a crazy stunt in the US.
