Microsoft PR Spin

from the what-do-you-want-that-study-to-say? dept

If you’re not already sick of press releases, here’s a good reason to start ignoring them altogether. Microsoft’s PR firm released info on a study comparing Mac users to PC users. They sent press releases to PC focused magazines mentioning how PC users tended to be “more amorous”. Of course, they spun the results of the survey around a little, so the press release that went to Mac focused magazines talked about how they were more cultured and “better lovers”. Basically, whatever you wanted the study to say, this PR firm would make sure it said it. The folks over at LinuxFormat were the first to notice this.
