Siebel Buys Back Sales.com

from the ooops dept

It was big news when Siebel spun off their ASP salesforce automation service, Sales.com. I was a little confused at the time, because I figured that ASPs were Siebel’s future, and the whole point of creating Sales.com would be to allow them to move their product line in that direction. So, it’s interesting to note that there’s very little news about Siebel buying back Sales.com. No one seems to want to explain it either (and no one will admit how much Siebel has to pay off the venture capitalists who got screwed in this deal). It all seems very secretive. What’s silly is that Sales.com was the first one out of the gate (long before Salesforce.com) and Siebel missed a great opportunity in pitching it as a “low cost, entry-level” version of Siebel. Now, it may be too late.
