Furniture.com Gone

from the bye-bye dept

When Furniture.com first launched I remember telling a venture capitalist that it was doomed to failure. I couldn’t think of anyone who would actually want to order huge pieces of furniture over the internet. The response I got was something along the lines of “but it’s a $20 billion dollar market!!”. Then along came Living.com and other online furniture stores all saying the same thing. There was a ton of hype about them, and very few people seemed to care that no one was actually ordering the furniture (who needs revenue when there’s a $20 billion market waiting to be “captured”?). Then Living.com went out of business about the same time that Furniture.com pulled a scam to try to stay in business. Apparently, it didn’t work. Furniture.com is no more.
