The Story At TheStreet.com
from the a-look-behind-the-scenes dept
A bit of a case study on what’s happening over at TheStreet.com. They definitely have run into some problems, and now they’re losing journalists. I like how Cramer attempts to sort of take some of the blame (something he rarely seems to do) by saying he “misjudged” certain things. That’s the equivalent of saying that everyone else probably acted incorrectly… I also think it’s interesting that the company is so focused on decreasing costs. Yes, I do understand that controlling costs is a very important part of running a business, but I’m always scared of companies that focus only on controlling costs, because then you often lose sight of what benefit you’re trying to provide. If you’re only focused on controlling costs, there’s a very simple way to get costs down to zero: shut down.
