AT&T Gets Greedy

from the we-want-more-money dept

Okay, I’m still trying to figure out exactly how this would be done, but AT&T is apparently thinking about trying to nab a piece of every online transaction that somehow touches their network. I’ve read a few different versions of this story, and I’m still confused by it. Exactly how do they plan on enforcing this? Also, I do like how the reasoning behind this is that it’s to make up for lost money from long-distance telephone competition. It’s not that they’ve created a new, valuable service that people should be willing to pay for – but, rather that they’re desperate to bring in some more revenue. That’s generally a recipe for disaster.
