Independent Bookstores Strike Back

Not so long ago, people were predicting that the combination of Barnes & Noble putting up brick and mortar stores everywhere, and Amazon.com selling every possible book online would make many independent local bookstores shut down. Now, however, it seems that many are getting themselves online – and using that as an extension of their offline presense. What they’re finding is that people are coming back to the local bookstores. They’re getting tired of the big, impersonal chains, and going to stores where the staff actually reads books.
