The CollegeClub.com Story

from the filing-for-IPO-to-filing-for-bankruptcy-in-4-months dept

An interesting case study on the story behind what happened to CollegeClub.com. The company seemed to have everything going for it, and then in a very short period of time saw everything fall apart. It’s a typical internet story, showing a business that really was built on a house of cards. I still don’t understand why people don’t realize that to build a real company these days you actually need plans on ways to make money – and not just ways to build market share. If a company that filed for an IPO has to file for bankruptcy 4 months later, there’s an obvious problem there. That company should never have filed for the IPO (despite everything else that’s said in the article).
