NSI 's Response to Root Servers Going Down

from the very-interesting dept

Wednesday night four of the 13 NSI root servers failed for about 35 minutes. The problem was fixed, and Network Solutions admitted that it was their problem caused by a technical glitch – not a malicious attack. The interesting part, to me, was the different claims that came out of NSI. The first, from a VP said it was “a major, major incident”. Later, however, an “official spokesperson” put the spin on and stated it was “a minor hiccup invisible to end users.” Hmmm. Who would you believe?
