Pizza Online
from the that's-so-1999 dept
So you thought that silly dot coms had gone out of style? Not so. People are still trying. The lastest one is a pizza portal that will let you order a pizza online. The problems with this one are so huge it’s not even remotely funny. First off, market size? Then, pizza delivery is not exactly a scaleable process (though Neal Stephenson would be proud as yet another part of Snow Crash comes true). Finally, um, what about all those other pizza places? Sooner or later they’ll add online ordering capabilities, and then where does the “Pizza Portal” go?

Why just pizza?
Why not all fast food? Is it b/c pizza has a delivery system already in place?
Re: Why just pizza?
fast food delivery? I hope not. I am lucky if my fries come to me hot when I use the drive up. Ice cold food is what you would get with delivery.

I like this, my fav place has already ordering online [never tried it….they dont deliver where I live (gotta drive 10 mins..hmm, downtown supp. be perfect)]. Papajohns.com
As for other fast food? Are we THAT lazy? I like BK and all, but for them to have a pickup window is appealing…now maybe Togos…..hmmm. Most of the fastfood places cannot get my order right, if online they may have a comment section on how long to cook my burger, hold the tomatoes…:)
Great locally, but portal?
One of the first small businesses that Intel “e-businessized” was a pizza shop in Sacramento, CA. Cool — back in early ’97. Like I need a portal for pizza. This is my weekly vote in f***edcompany.com…

we have been in the online pizza business for 6 years and have currently 12,000+ restaurants online and 80,000+ in our database. We provide a total package for a small independent pizza operator. A person orders thru the web and we fax the order over to the pizza restaurant. We provide an email back to verify order and can even sms you when to pick up pizza or as a reminder of delivery
