Too Many Incubators
from the they're-everywhere... dept
The Economist takes a good look at the most overhyped concept of last year: the incubator. For a while it seemed as though everyone was starting incubators. I heard of people who had no successful track record whatsoever deciding to start an incubator for no other reason than it seemed like an easy thing to do (and probably looked like a good way to get rich since you’re diversifying your risk across the companies you incubate). Now many incubators are discovering that they’re having problems. Does this mean the end of incubators? Probably not, but it does mean they will have to prove themselves, and maybe adjust, in order to survive moving forward.
