AltaVista Dumps DoubleClick

If this comes as a surprise then you’ve been living under a rock. AltaVista is ditching DoubleClick as their ad sales force. AltaVista has been DoubleClick’s largest customer, so it should be interesting to see how this effects their revenue. The concern with DoubleClick has always been over what happens if they were to lose AltaVista, and now we’ll find out. Of course, you could see this coming a long time ago – since CMGI bought AltaVista, and then CMGI basically bought all of DoubleClick’s competitors to build a single competing company. It’s not hard to figure out that the AltaVista-DoubleClick relationship was going away at some point.
