Napster Buycott a Failure?

from the disorganized dept

Salon is reporting that the Napster “Buycott” was a failure. The idea was that people should go buy CDs of certain bands and tell the record store that they’re buying them because of Napster. Of course, part of the problem may have been the completely disorganized nature of the protest. While some people have been urging people to go out and buy more CDs, other’s are urging people to stop buying CDs. No one completely knows what to do. This doesn’t help anyone. People simply want to listen to music, and both sides of the debate are just getting silly.
