I think this is the first time I’ve ever seen anyone refer to WAP as being a “quality” solution…

Quality derives from simplicity, and WAP is anything but simple.

It offers wider access to information, whereas the i-mode system is pretty restricted to Japan (and offers cut down services).

i-mode is currently deployed only in Japan, but with DoCoMo’s recent purchase into VoiceStream and KPN, the US and Europe will be seeing it soon.
