AltaVista Postpones IPO

from the smart-move dept

In what was probably a very smart move, AltaVista has decided to postpone its IPO due to “market conditions”, which is easier than saying “the bottom has fallen out and no one wants to buy anything“. Though, you never know what might have happened. In 1998 after all the dot coms started cancelling their IPOs and the market was tanking a couple of surprise IPOs (EarthWeb and TheGlobe) helped bring it back (even if both are struggling a year and a half later).
