Stephen King Online Book Causes Problems
from the too-much-demand dept
A lot of articles were written when Stephen King decided to release his latest novella only online. What I find more interesting, however, is the difficulty people had in actually getting the book as servers were completely swamped. I think this is a good sign for electronic books, but I still don’t see myself reading a full length novel on my computer… yet.

Novels on the Palm
I agree that reading an entire novel online isn’t so nice, but I absolutely *love* reading e-books on my Palm III. With TealDoc (and many other Doc readers), you can set to autoscroll and not have to go flipping pages back and forth; you can carry an entire book (or two) in your shirt pocket; and with the backlight you can stay up and read without keeping a light on.
Hard on the ol' retina
There was a story on the news last night about how a local library had bought a couple of eBook readers as a trial. One of test clients was quoted as saying your eyes do get tired. He then went on to say that it would be a good thing if school textbooks were put on eBooks, because then kids would ‘get used to’ the idea. And possibly constant headaches, too.
