CMGI of Wireless

from the getting-serious-about-cutting-the-wires dept

This is a day old, but it hasn’t been posted on TD and I think its worthy. High level Microsoft and McCaw alums have formed Ignition Corp, a company they hope to be the CMGI of wireless ventures. They are starting with a $140M fund. The money is being contributed by the 8 founders and partners such as Qualcomm, Softbank Venture Capital and Madrona Ventures Group. All right, so where do I sign up for some of that $$$?

I avoided posting on purpose

I actually chose not to post it as I thought it was more of a non-event. Okay, so a lot of well known execs form a VC firm focusing on wireless – but there’s no indication of what they’re actually going to do or if they’ll be any good at it. If anything this strikes me as a lot of hype and very little substance. I’ll be more interested in seeing the deals they actually do and if they make any sense…
