Instant Messaging: The Next Killer App

from the talk-talk-talk-talk-talk dept

A good article in Wired that discusses instant messaging as the next killer app. I think there’s a lot more potential for instant messaging than they get into, but it’s a good start. They also leave out one of the major downsides to instant messaging, which CNet is reporting on today. What if someone steals your IM identity? I also think instant messaging has been slowed down by the fact that no single standard has been accepted to allow anyone to talk to anyone no matter what IM program they use.
