Tech Stories

from the more-books-about-conquering dept

Salon is reviewing two recently released books about the high tech world. It doesn’t look favorably on either one. The first one, High Stakes, No Prisoners by Charles Ferguson, I’ve read and have been planning to write my own review about. The Salon review trashes it because he feels it’s a typical winners tale showing how great a triumph it was. My reading of the book (and I’ll say more when I write the full review) was very different. Ferguson very clearly talks about the mistakes he makes as well, and that’s what makes the book interesting. The other book, Renegades of the Empire by Michael Drummond talks about folks inside Microsoft, and Salon trashes this even worse than the Ferguson book suggesting it was rushed out very quickly.
