Findings in life extension

from the eternal-youth dept

Scientist in Italy have developed a strain of mice that has a defect gene which allows them to live one third longer than normal mice. The reason for this finding is not totally clear but if this holds true for other mammels (i.e. humans) this protein could be targeted and disabled to elongate the life time of an organism. There are a lot of potential problems with this, one being it might only work in this specific strain of mice but it would seem at least a little tempting to for biotechs to check this out further.
