How to Get Microsoft Office Cheap
from the fooling-Microsoft dept
The folks over at Salon are all excited because they’ve figured out a way to get Office 2000 for only $99 by claiming you’re a system administrator of a company, and ordering the “training version”. Of course, they also mention that you could just borrow someone else’s copy and install it, but that’s bad, they say, because that’s illegal. So, misrepresenting yourself to Microsoft is just fine and dandy, but copying software is bad. I’m not sure I understand the ethics involved in software purchasing these days.

They’re not saying “go do it.” In the artice they say that it’s still wrong because you’d be lying to microsoft. But in my opinion, microsoft lies to everyone else all the time, and they charge too much for their software anyways, so I dont see the problem π
Re: No Subject Given
This is true… my point was simply that if you’re going to “lie” to Microsoft, why bother paying $99 when you can do just as well for nothing at all…
