DoubleClick Buys NetGravity
from the the-big-get-bigger dept
While still a surprise, the fact that DoubleClick is buying NetGravity comes as much less of a surprise than the Columbia House/CDNow merger. This one will be interesting to watch, though. I know that DoubleClick is desperately trying to expand away from just selling ads, and I guess they figured a packaged solution like NetGravity gets them into a software business they know about. It’s definitely a good deal for NetGravity, though.

Good fit
This deal is a good fit for both companies. Their core businesses really compliment each other. Netgravity had tried to expand into the service model but didn’t get very far. Now DoubleClick will have a stand alone product and more engineers.
