MS revealed its new digital music format yesterday, dubbed “Windows Media Technologies 4.0”. We now have yet another MP3 competitor in the market, and one that will fit right in with the OS.
The new format supports rights managament and has MP3 sound quality with higher compression. MS’s real challenge will be getting the music industry to trust them. Check out this great overview of the battle for online music.
