CD-R's Increase Software Piracy

A new study being released today claims that cheap CD-R’s have led to an increase in software piracy. What the study (or at least this article) fails to point out is how many of the people who have a pirated game would have bought the game otherwise? In my mind, that’s not piracy. Those people are not lost sales. What the industry really needs is a way to do some form of dynamic pricing based on how much someone really wants the game for. If I could only come up with a solution for that…
