Ahh, but has it been proven to be a truly random distribution, or does it just pass our current best statistical tests for being a random distribution? It's not the same thing!
No, the original article is correct. While the digits of pi do pass statistical tests for randomness, they are not truly random. If they were truly random, we would not be able to calculate them, by definition.
It is possible (even probable, I'd say) that it contains all possible digit sequences, but this is conjecture.
I thought it was fairly common knowledge that the style of the Star Wars text crawl was inspired by the old Flash Gordon serials. (Presumably the Vogue ad was too.)
I suspect a fair number of people overseas are starting to view ACTA as an infringement on their national sovereignty. Once people start to perceive it as a form of US economic imperialism, they're gonna get rather pissed off...
Not only are they out of touch with reality, the very name of the organization is somewhat misleading. A fair number of people believe they are a branch of the government, instead of a lobbying organization.
Techdirt has not posted any stories submitted by Mike Uchima.
Re: Wow
5th only applies in criminal cases, not civil.
Which makes it all the more strange that they pled the 5th, unless criminal activity has indeed occurred.

Flash Gordon?

It's bacon!
One of the local pubs recently added battered deep-fried bacon to their menu. Sooo bad for you... and sooo yummy! :D
Interesting factoid
The company that produces the "meat glue" (Ajinomoto) is the same company that invented MSG over a hundred years ago!
I am not surprised!

Does anyone actually believe the USCC serves a useful purpose?
