I'm sure the movie rights have already been sold, but a man with the name (no, really) Chris Moneymaker has won the 34th World Series of Poker, collecting $2.5 million. That's not the interesting part, though. It turns out that Mr. Moneymaker has only been playing poker for three years - and has played it exclusively online during all that time. Furthermore, instead of entering the competition the normal way (paying an entrance fee), he got in via an online poker-playing contest, and claims that his anonymity in the poker playing world seems to have helped him get past plenty of poker professionals to take home the big prize. The various online casinos seem to be pushing this "success story" all over the place now. According to this other article about Mr. Moneymaker's unlikely win, he actually financed his trip to Las Vegas for the championships by "selling" a portion of any winnings to (get this) a friend with the name David Gamble. Mr. Gamble and Mr. Moneymaker winning the World Series of Poker thanks to an online casino? Nah, forget the movie rights... no one would believe it.
