Smut Trading Outstrips Tune Swaps

While the music industry insists that the only reason for file sharing is to steal music, new studies suggest that’s not even the main reason people use file sharing any more. Now, they use it to find porn. So, even if “legitimate” music services show up, people say file sharing services won’t go away – even if the music industry’s latest campaign is telling people to uninstall their file sharing software. While some porn providers are taking the RIAA route of blaming the technology, there are some porn providers who are embracing the technology, building business models around file sharing, and taking advantage of what the medium provides them. Once again, the technology is being pushed by the porn industry. The music industry might want to take note.
