Office Workers Will Give Away Their Password For A Pen

from the it's-that-simple dept

According to the latest InfoSecurity study nearly 90% of office workers will give up their password if you give them a cheap pen. For those who were a little hesitant, it was apparently very easy to coax the password out of them with a little social engineering. Apparently 90% of people asked gave up their passwords. This seems ridiculously high, but perhaps it's true.

  1. read a similar article a couple of years ago

When I read a similar article about men using passwords of their favorite sports team and women using their pet's name, my wife said maybe she needs to change her password. Lucky hacker guess on my part that my wife was using our dog's name as her password at her workplace.

...The *REAL* worry is the person who will give away your password (and how to get to the your box from the Internet) for a cheap pen.

...I've seen that happen before and it is indeed scary; poor you.
