Spelling/Grammar Checker Makes Good Writers Worse

Everyone has stories about "bad" spell checkers or grammar checkers suggesting something silly (which often makes it into the final document). Now, some researchers are studying just how much people rely on the little squiggly red and green lines in Microsoft Word. What they found is that, while it brings up the quality of poor writers, it makes good writers worse - since they start to rely on the spell checker completely, while ignoring their own instincts.
