Big Tech Companies Pushing Music Licensing

from the now-that-napster-is-totally-out-of-the-way dept

Napster and other file sharing companies had been pushing for compulsory licensing, the same licensing that radio stations have. Now the Computer and Communications Industry Association has decided to push for the same licensing for music downloads. The group is composed of players like Verizon, Sun, Oracle, and Yahoo. It's sad that the music industry can't see the logic of simplified licensing. While they might have a bit less control, they would gain a number of new distributors for their wares.
