The best thing about a filibuster is that it also exposes what someone truly believes in. The truth of the matter is that whether or not you may like it, a Republican State Senator stood up for what she believes in to block a bill that very likely most Texan civilians were truly against.
Here's the problem...this isn't political. It's never a good thing when one side stands up for things they believe in and do everything within their power to stop something they believe isn't right only for the side that lost to be all butthurt and HACK a government computer to change the time stamp on a document.
Oh you can get digital OTA signals....it's called QAM....our broadcasting companies have been curmudgeons about it. In Columbus, Ohio, you can get all the major broadcasters through local news affiliates and PBS (WOSU) on digital and in 1080i. The problem is that the curmudgeons don't like OTA because it is free.
Leigh...imagine if you would, a four year old or three year old sitting in front of the TV and someone on screen drops the F-Bomb....swearing when done appropriately is perfectly acceptable but not when a child starts using those words against their parents.
Furthermore, just because we here in the US have free speech doesn't mean it wise to consistently swear and curse about everything. We can most definitely swear but it doesn't go very well for ratings if major broadcasters constantly do it.
Removing the blockage is not about art and culture in this case....Tell me, since when has any of the aforementioned broadcasting companies ever fought for the spread of culture? Surely you can't tell us that culture is their motive for removing the restriction because it is their braying and barking against fair use in the first place that blocks culture..not that lack of swearing.
Why would Edward Snowden cross dress???...his proper attire is clearly Red and white striped hat and shirt, round rim glasses, blue jeans and brown shoes!
I don't think John Lennon was ever a glam rock star...
Julian Assange released classified government documents to the public on everything any US official was doing, planning to do, or was going to do until they found out the information was going to be released. He released both things that should not have been classified and things that really should have been...this includes the security details at the US embassy at Benghazi... Assange got charged with rape while running and there was DNA evidence to prove it. Also, Assange comes off as an arrogant asshole and was known to yell at his staff if he didn't get his way or was questioned about his financial decisions.
Snowden, on the other hand, did not endanger the lives of those around him, did not release any sort of schematic of the computer systems used by the NSA or how those systems operated or worked, did not release the actual information that truly needed to be classified...left his wife and kiss so they wouldn't be harmed by the DOJ and NSA, gave up his $186,000 a year job, and did his civic duty as, not only as a true NSA agent, but as any US citizen should do...and ran so that the press won't be able to find him.
Here's the thing about Snowden...no matter where he goes, he's in danger of being shot, killed, tortured, or executed because he's been identified as an NSA agent and is risking his life to make sure that US citizens' rights are not trampled on.
Here's the thing about Assange....America is evil so we must embarrass it....that's why he does what he does.
There you go...two comparisons of people and their stories...Snowden is a better human than Assange.
COmsidering the average web cache size for Gmail's stand alone inbox page is now 20 MB in size...yeah I'll take my chances at the local library...
Might see some "Help Wanted" signs that way...
You may be right or wrong but I don't think I can take anyone seriously who uses the Acronym "ONU" for either "Owned you" or "UR NUR" indicating a subjugated view of me, by you, as a total retard. You do not prove superiority by acting dominant in correcting someone.
"Centurylink had enough cash to buy Qwest but did NOTHING to update the lines they purchased. Here we are nearly three years later and still no improvement."
I don't think he was giving the REAL reasons that those in the IT business see every day. He blamed his cruddy service on a cash grab when in reality it was the wires used to connect him to the internet.
Yes because killing Jews is a good thing and Hitler was a good man for it right?
My ISP is TimeWarner and their location for the services they provide me are in Zanesville, Ohio....I live in rural northern central Ohio....in a town far from Zanesville.
Yes but here in the US, Google is not under the same strict privacy rules brought on by Maps.
Mullvad is also the name of a local DSL service in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Steele might have registered under Comcast in the past and due to his profession, used a mobile broadband receiver on his laptop.....The thing is that the devices could never be registered on two different ISP's because to access his connection to Mullvad at home, he would have had to of hacked the broadband receiver from Comcast. Some DSL carriers rely on a wireless box away from your house and the DSL line just picks it up from across the street. My guess is that this method is used to prevent flooding from damaging the lines going into the houses.
Here is my conjecture or guess as to what he could have done...
He hacked his broadband receiver to pick up on that box and forgot to change the name registration that said mobile broadband receiver that is tied to its MAC address...
I am willing to bet that everything he is doing will definitely be used against him when being sequestered to defend himself and his associates from disbarment. So let's pile it on and take out time as the judicial system has a veritable nuclear blast set up...the more he continues the bigger the blowout will become ;-)
"Maybe the attorney in the case should send John one of those "settlement letters" offering him the opportunity to settle out of court for a sum of money (equivalent to roughly how much he's "earned" using the same technique)."
You spake of Karma and it simply reminded me of Gandhi where he said "An eye for an eye makes the world blind". Karma is not about getting even, it's about doing good things to make you feel better about yourself. That's how it works.
And for the record....because John Steal is facing criminal charges and the defense properly filed for discovery in these situations, it only affects and exposes John Steele and his associates, not countless, nameless shmucks who did not pirate porn.
No silly that's the CIA!! The IRS can't keep track of where their money went due to graft and mafia targeting tactics.
The Salvation Army is a great example of non-profit. So is the American Red Cross. The Salvation Army has conservative Christian views and was among those audited. Why??? The key word is "Army".
The IRS was basing these audits on key word searches of specific words in titles of organizations typically associated with non-profit establishments. The Salvation Army is one of the non-political groups who had to wait just over a year to get tax exempt status. All who filed politically under Tea Party as their political affiliation were targeted.
And then the IRS was making demands of people that would deny them their first amendment rights by promising not to do certain things that would normally be completely legal.
Susan Martinek, president of the Coalition for Life of Iowa, testified that an IRS agent told her in June 2009 that she needed to send a letter with her entire board?s signatures ?stating under penalty of perjury we would not picket, protest or organize groups to picket, protest outside of Planned Parenthood.?
I mean seriously...since when does the IRS have the power to base an audit, especially a political organization is not allowed to protest and picket voting stations (and none of them ever do) and demand it from them anyway because of their own beliefsa ....it's not as if the IRS were the electoral committee here, and they do not have the jurisdiction to make such demands in contract to law abiding citizens. That is an example of who they are targeting.
The other reason why non-profit status is tax exempt is because they rely on optional donations. Christians typically tithe money to the church they go to so they can keep going to that church and because the like the friendships they develop with other fellow Christians as a result....in my Nazarene territory we call that fellowship. The donation is totally optional and not one bit mandatory.
Only problem is...the previous repub administration DIDN'T do this. Obama appointed a guy as the head of the IRS in his cabinet only to have his appointee jailed 10 months after being in office for tax evasion. Then, he appoints a new guy himself using executive order as Acting IRS Director...and if you still don't believe me...it would have been pointed out quicker if a republican were in office.
On that note....During the 9/11 terrorist attacks, President George W. Bush was reading to a bunch of kindergarteners and asked to be able to wait several minutes to finish the story he was reading them. HE was criticized heavily for that wait which prevented panic coming from the children. He still catches gaff for that from all sorts of Liberal types..just for waiting 7 minutes to address the nation on what is going on.
Fast forward to Benghazi....That was an equally brazen terrorist attack. Just like 9/11, months of warning from the US Embassy of an impending terrorist attack goes ignored by the administration...and we only hear about it 10 months after the attack...not one peep..until a rumor leaked on the internet that turned out to be true after further investigation.
Yup....being a political mouthpiece for this current administration has got to suck because even the non-democrat liberals are screaming "We told you so" about Obama..
