I find it a refreshing thought, that he's admitting that if he was rich and famous he might (but not definetly would) feel different...and now, he'll never know.
It's been known that the device wouldn't be backwards compatible for most games since it was physically unveiled. Initially, they were saying it was only going to be for their best sellers (IIRC, they call them Platinum Hits?), so I'm hard pressed to see how this is a sudden coming out.
