I should have previewed that comment. Charter is pulling out of the West and moving to the Midwest. My original comment makes it seem that Comcast is moving.
I live in the LA area. Karl got it backwards on the last 6 games last season: TWC "graciously" allowed us to watch those last 6 games after not letting us see the other 156 games of the season. I had heard that part of the Comcast merger, Comcast would trade some areas around, but had not really looked at the details. I have Charter and a tech was out yesterday talking about the deal. Comcast will take over Charter in the West and move back to the Midwest. That means that my ISP will be Comcast. I can't wait. /s/ That will also solve the problem of not seeing the Dodger games. Not that I care any more. I haven't seen any for more than a year, so the Dodgers don't exist for me.
Like David, I did not know what DLC meant. Someone else posted that he did not ask what DRM is. Both acronyms may be very common in gaming, but DRM is used in many other places. I am not a gamer, so I had to look DLC up. I would have posted the answer, but That One Guy beat me to it.
How long do these things stay in effect? If Reagan issued 12333, that is a pretty long time for it to be still used. Is there no sunset law for executive orders?
I started reading this site because of the coverage of copyright and IP stories. Like several others, I was a follower of PJ at Groklaw (man, I miss that) and have come here. I mainly lurk, but have posted a few comments. Techdirt explains things in a way that is easy to understand. Keep up the good work.
"When the facts come out on this, I think a lot of people who are claiming that there has been this tremendous sort of spying and monitoring and hacking will be proved wrong."
This statement is entirely true. Only it is the CIA that was proved wrong.
Re: Re: Re: Careful there
How about:
I can neither confirm nor deny that anyone, anywhere has ever made a mistake.
Re: You can beat the maths
You can count on the bad guys having the key before it gets distributed to all the good guys.

Wait until the NSA...
I can't wait until the NSA stretches and deforms this executive order like they did to XO12333.
Re: Small suggestion
Maybe they think the statue is covered by copyright. That would make it life plus 70 years, clearly still in that range.
Misnamed bill
"the extravagantly misnamed USA Freedom Act"
Finally, something Clapper and I agree on.

Hot News Doctrine
Is that really a law? Can a verdict against it overturn it?
It does seem antiquated, at best.
"Tweak the law"
"A legislative tweak is needed to allow DNA processed by a portable machine to be entered into the FBI's systems, bureau officials acknowledge."
Why go to the bother? Just re-define some of the words in the current law.
correction
"revolve around signing/dancing competitions"
Shouldn't that be "singing"?
Re: Re: Re:
Shouldn't he be put away for life plus 70 years?
Remind me of an old joke:
Q: What is the difference between the Boy Scouts and the military?
A: The Boy Scouts have adult leadership.
Executive Orders
How long do these things stay in effect? If Reagan issued 12333, that is a pretty long time for it to be still used. Is there no sunset law for executive orders?
Re: Few tools to monitor their staffs?

You had it right the first time.

I am from California.
Are you as proud of your senator as I am of mine?

Mike:
In the last paragraph:
The fact that there was language in previous bills that presented this kind of thing,
Should that be prevented ?
My Rep voted NO
I sent him an email to "thank" him.
