If i recall it correctly Greenwalds reaction to the UK detaining Miranda was "Well, we can publish stuff on the UK aswell". Shortly after that The Guardians harddrives were killed off.
A likely result will be that the BRIC countries wont sign (Brazil, India, Russia and China) Rendering the whole of ACTA worth less than the paper it is printed on.
"You mean the jobs they want to grant more HB-1 visa's for foriegner's to fill? "
The whole reason for the HB-1 Visas is that American companies need to be able to survive even if they cannot find local qualified personell. so ... try again.
This is good news tbh. i mean just imagine if the Tech sector is the only one giving 'donations'... you really didn't think this through did you Dodd ?
"If you're running Amazon S3 or Dropbox, do you now suddenly change how you do business, just to avoid the possibility of being accused of racketeering and criminal copyright infringement? That's worrisome. "
Even bigger issue is, Would you trust a cloud storage to be safe for your buissness, your family photos or whatever you use it for.
Lack of trust means lack of sales, lack of sales means end of service.
So yes, if all their claims pan out, there's still going to be a hit to the economy as cloud storage will be deemed more and more untrustworthy.
=) me too.
The point i was trying to make tho is that the Ghandi approach only works if you can pull off looking like a victim.
10+ Years of the media industry playing the bully has me not all that sympathetic to them getting beat on.
I kinda think that this was a standing order for the police in NZ as soon as he entered the country. the Timing is just so so so completely wrong for this to have been set into action right now.
Or simply make any donations to a candidate go through the IRS and paid out anonymously to the candidate in random sums.
Sure, people can _claim_ they donated but how will the candidate know if there's no payment for the specific amount the IRS gives them ?

So does legislation to the highest bidder.
Wonder if you could roll in a block of marble and a chisel.
Or maybe some modeling clay.
Re: Re: Re: Re: It's actually really, really bad
Actually, if the EU stays out of ACTA then the BRIC countries are unlikely to join and the whole thing could fold.

I think the MAFIAA did the one thing they truly could not afford to do, they woke up the public.
Re: Petition time!
About 200 signatures per hour, not too shabby for still being early on a Sunday.
Petition time!

Spread the word my lovelies. Get enough pressure on this so they have to act on it.

Re: Re:
You're arguing that cloud storage should spy on their users to check if what they store is in violation of something ?

Ah, but the true question is ....
If someone took a stick to a Record label CEO .. would anyone care ?

Re:
Pretty convincing DarryL impersonation, except you had proper punctuation. =)

*himself look bad
realized it sounded a lot less accusatory in my head than it came out =P
Re:
Seems silly to make yourself look bad just to make someone else look bad.
