    I was going to make a long post, but this just sums it up

    The problem is though mike, they just did. It depresses me (too?) that my arch nemeses are, in fact, correct, and that we are moving to a communist country, the DPRK (Democratic Peoples' Republic of Kalifornia).

    Seriously though, if American (CAPITAL A!) values are going to prevail, as you seem to have some hope of happening (how?), then we can cherish every "successful" move the MAFIAA makes as another nail in the coffin. After all, the government hasn't been able to really do anything but piss off legit consumers right? it doesnt hurt piracy? I actually believe that part, since I have seen the evidence with my own eyes. But at what point will their new employees (the justice dept) just send the ATFC (Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, Content) be raiding my house with stormtrooper gear to take my iPhone? Seriously, I'm looking at moving to a less extreme country... like I dunno... china.. where I can just buy all my movies for $1 in an alley and be blissfully ignorant of ever having had any "rights"

    seriously, how about a post on ways to stay positive about the daily trashing of our rights as citizens of the united states?

    I kind of agree that verizon shouldn't be responsible for data that travels through hardware that *I OWN* using bandwidth *I PAID FOR* but so much for my entitlement issues.. I guess I don't own the phone I just paid $550 bucks for! (before discounts and rebates for locking me into their service for *another* two years)

    as someone commented earlier, at least they have the best coverage coverage coverage... it may not matter to most urbanites but people who roam the countryside (or for some people I know who are cross country drivers) there really is no better! (only sprint seemed to come close)

    Actually TPB hosts .torrent files, as far as I know, and doesn't simply re-link to other torrent sites (you may be thinking of another site?). Though the issue is a bit confusing since .torrent files are essentially links (or maps, or plans, I guess?) to content which is often legitimate.

    Perhaps someone should accuse BREIN of owning TPB and hold them liable until they can produce official documents showing the real owner?

    I kind of have to wonder how a seperate country can force a website to block ITSELF from their country, I mean, didn't the US simply force ISP's to block websites it deemed wholly illegal? what happens if they don't comply? will the be extradited? is this really a criminal offense or a civil one?

    you mean like how it's a DMCA violation to change your oil? wait until it's an ACTA violation to service cars without paying royalties to the manufacturer..

    I wonder if when the RIAA was doing well they gave record stores a piece of THEIR revenue stream...

    no problem

    I don't really see a problem with this, you have to take into account a carjacked vehicle is likely to be MORE dangerous with a wanted person behind the wheel, based on that one could extrapolate a loss of speed almost has to be a superior alternative. Sure I can see how it may exaggerate an already tense situation and put the aforementioned person on the spot which could potentially exacerbate the situation, but (without running the numbers) I expect the odds of a situation ending well dramatically decrease in proportion to a duration increase.

    Again, stopping a car mid intersection or on a railroad crossing would CERTAINLY put the carjacker in danger (an ethical problem partially resolved by the sheer fact that said carjacker has already put themselves and everyone around them in danger by that point) and potentially cross traffic at the hypothetical intersection. Still, I have to think a stopped car has to be less dangerous than one operated by carjacker who is likely seeking to elude the police.

    Abuses? I guess Obama will stop all the tea party cars before they get to D.C.? I just don't see how this is as bad as chilling free speech, city-wide surveillance, or tracking your car with GPS...

    REALLY? Things like ACTA are on the horizon, illegal wiretaps have already happened, and THIS is the last straw? THIS is the slippery slope? (this last part was directed at people who I think are over-concerned with the "ripeness" for "abuse" this involves)

    I agree with mike on this one, although I don't think it frees the glazier in question to suddenly go out and become a social worker for illiterate children (a worthy cause, be it as it may), I think people feel entitled to their profession. Listen people, we can't all be glaziers, I mean yeah I guess we could all be astronauts or presidential candidates, but I think what mike said is that the glazier in question could do something better with his time than make glass, and I for one do not think it makes him any less of a master glazier to boot. Plenty of skilled glaziers do it as a hobby, for fun, for free, or at least, on their own terms... how's that for entitlement?
