    Common sense

This is invoked so many times yet each and every time the writer gets it wrong.
For the cops and school administrators this IS common sense.

One should never ever assume that common sense is the same as good sense.
There is a difference and this is a good example of one not being the other.

I will. :P For full equivalency they would need to be armed with a flamethrower to fight fire with fire to prevent the spread of fire on anyone leaving the building.

Re: Fire every cop, start over

It is not just the officers themselves you have to purge but the union itself and hit them with the book - quite literally some would suggest - for every crime they supported, facilitated or covered up.
If even 0.1% of that goes through, the whole union administration will be filling exclusive blocks at the commercial state prisons for centuries to come. Need to keep those prisons full. As for the judges who gave them a pass or facilitated their shenanigans, review and thorough investigation, including finances, with the appropriate consequences. There are more than enough lawyers out there salivating for a sweet sweet bench position. Judges, like diapers, need to be checked up on a regular basis, and changed when required, and all for the same reason.

There are a few ....very few .... theatres that do offer the easy access, valet parking, dinner with Real Food and an Adult Drink or two, comfy chairs, clean floors and a strictly enforced SHHHHH policy. Still on the costly side for a movie but on par with a good restaurant $$$$ out of $$$$$. Mind you reservations are required and walk-ins are rarely available.

    Re: Re:

"You mean theaters? They've already adapted to the competition posed by streaming, by being the place where you see the big budget eye candy that really needs the big screen and booming sound system for the full effect." That would be true except that theatre chains have mostly gone to the smaller screens in smaller rooms with ear blasting sound systems. The Big theatres, like the drive ins before them, are now few and far between. IMAX though few films do the format justice. As an aside - I wonder when health and safety bothered to check those things out and jailed the idiots damaging peoples hearing?

Ah Leadership. The issue is in how it manifests. Is it the Boss / Bully style of do what I say and sycophants? Is it the Coordinator, democratic style of teamwork? Is it what some call paternalistic but I much prefer Instructional style. This one is a bit harder to define but comes from one knowing the subject much better than the rest but only interjects to correct and instruct the others. This is where the know-it-all either shines or fails in sharing their knowledge with the group. I have worked in Scouting through all levels in my lifetime and have seen or experience all three types. The first is doomed to failure ultimately. The second is what is encouraged by the program and generates solid levels of confidence and responsibility. The third is what you hope will happen and where you get some of the best in instructing and learning from members in the group.

You would think so if you didn't know their history.
Sadly their ability to lie in the face of all facts and evidence to the contrary predates the most recent iteration of executive truth laundering in government.

Re: Re: Ah to be a fly on that wall...

But that is the thing with the Executives there. They are all about the new money and don't give half a farthing for what their client base wants or thinks. Sadly the original people who made the Blizzard what it was are no longer there and what is there now is the same infestation affecting nearly all large corporate organizations. Their clients of import are the executives closely followed by the investors. The actual customers who give them money for products or services are just an exploitable commodity. As for China as a market, I am not sure what any executive types are thinking since, as far as I know and I could be very wrong on this, China does not allow Capital to flow out of the country, only goods.

MTG is a Wizards of the Coast aka Hasbro property. Their cards are rationalized for both language and artwork since the beginning and has not stopped the fan-base wanting cards from other regions. Activision-Blizzard's property World of Warcraft aka WoW is where they regionalized the character models for their rotting undead corpse race aka The Forsaken by showing less bone and more gore. I know that those outside the fandom have a hard time knowing who is who but please keep your evil corporate empires straight. ;)

Not really since the two merged. Mind it is the Activision executives who made the call, just like they did on the downsizing while putting millions into executives bonuses a little while back.

And that is why they studiously do not collect that data. My bets are on that any of the other 3 letter agencies have much better data on the subject and may even have full mappings down to individual buildings.
Now trying to get that data may require talking to the Australian or British agencies since FOIA requests here are laughed off.
