    I think I get it.

    This bill is being designed by the people who make and sell child pornography, because they know that heavier regulation and properly worded legislation will increase the unit selling price of their goods.

    After all, like illegal drugs, the harder they are to get due to legislation, the more the dealers have to charge per unit to make up the additional costs of distribution, plus a hefty bonus of course, even when the scarcity is purely hollywood.

    Its another false scarcity program.

    A $20 bag of pot cost what now... 300-400 bux or so...

    Hadn't realized that there were so many shills in congress on their payroll, although in the Age of T. Rump, I suppose all congress-critters are on somebody's payroll. Impressive lobbying guys.

    Of course the legislators love the idea too because the loose wording will allow another legal window into the lives of the general public, as well as allow the Big Players to use the new laws for pruning of startup competition through slick re-interpretation of that same loose wording.

    Man, its awesome what you can do once you've rewritten that pesky Constitution thing in secret, "for the children", and can pretend that you're fighting a real war and thereby gain all the great war-time perks that scenario allows.

    Sure do hope the US population - we call them the "adversary" now - never catches on to the secret new laws that have been in place since 911. It would really cramp our style if law enforcement and the military had to go back to the old pre-911 constitutional laws.

    As long as everyone in America is legally considered to be an enemy combatant, we can do just about anything we want to them - shoot 'em, kill their pets, steal their shit - and its all 100% completely legal and penalty-free.

    But lets face it, the chances of the US public catching on are slim, and the likelihood of them actually doing anything about it if they did catch on, are now pretty much non-existent, since legally, we can just ignore their bitching.

    What a great time to be alive; and be a LEO, in America.

    Chilling free speech is precisely one of the main purposes of this "bill".

    Fascists hate free speech nearly as much as they hate consumer protection legislation.

    As the billionaire's business regime gains more and more control over US law, you'll be seeing a whole lot more of this sort of "for the children" criminalization of free speech, both on the web and in daily life.

    Then lets look at it from a different angle...

    Perhaps The Dark Overlord is an FBI, NSA, or CIA asset, and all of this apparent weirdness is just the result of an over-confident gang of taxpayer-paid assholes who are used to total protection, running about and trying to maintain the cover on something that would be extraordinarily embarrassing - and very likely lead to unemployment for many of those assholes - if exposed to the public by an uncontrolled source.

    Such a discovery; that all of the Dark Overlord's accomplishments/exploits were planned and sanctioned by the security state for fun and profit, would definitely be a game changer at this point in time and show the Fed Gov for what it really was - a corporate department.

    Not so weird anymore eh. :)

    Its incredibly refreshing to see someone who has actually thought this thing through, posting on this topic. Its more than just rare.

    In order to seriously attack Child Abuse, it would be essential to do another totally unthinkable thing, that the mere suggestion of will also earn one the ire of the vast majority of otherwise intelligent humans - educate children about sexuality, at the earliest possible time, rather than wait till they are nearly adults.

    We live in a world where religion has indoctrinated nearly every culture with the utterly absurd belief that a Child who has learned about the process of procreation of species, is a destroyed and ruined child who will become evil thereafter... or something.

    No evidence of this claim has ever been offered, but because its a religious belief, it only needs faith to become real in the minds of the indoctrinated and thus no evidence will ever be, or for that matter, need ever be forthcoming.

    If children knew what the pedophile was after, the chance of being tricked into a position where abuse can take place diminishes tremendously.

    One could in fact, come to the conclusion, that laws maintaining the sexual-ignorance of children, were designed and instituted by pedophiles. Keeping children ignorant of sexuality certainly makes life a lot easier for the pedophile, whose activities have not diminished in centuries, if ever.

    It might also aid in the extermination of pedophiles, if their crime was labelled for what it really is - "KID" napping.

    But I have faith in humanity.

    The public will always "choose" the wrong path, because they always let authority choose for them, and Authority always chooses the path that is most profitable to the members of Authority.

    I don't see us getting off this Merry-Go-Round any time soon. So tough luck kids.

    We never learn from our mistakes.

    In ancient times, when shit went south - famine, drought, plague, pestilence - the leaders ALWAYS claimed 'the Gods were angry because the public was acting, speaking, dressing, thinking immorally'.

    A large portion of the public has always willingly fallen for this line of BS, because it lets them blame all the bad shit on those who dress, speak, or behave in ways they consider improper, as taught by their religion.

    The Authorities love this BS line, because it places the full responsibility for whatever fiasco happens to be affecting the society at the time, squarely on the shoulders of the public. And once the public is pushed by its "morally responsible members" into a regimen of legislated "See and Tell" to root out the immoral evil doers, authority gets to become more ruthless and intrusive (and profitable), "as demanded by the public."

    Authority knows from experience that the regimen of anti-immorality legislation never actually lessens the problems faced by the society, but this is good for business-as-usual because the authorities now have a publicly acceptable "rationale" for all their oppressive tactics, going forward.

    Time has had zero effect on this con and today its being used for everything from vaccines to terrorists.

    In any fascist police state, profits are always the primary goal.

    Is there any mention of whether or not the Aussie Cops made any money from the sale of images, during their stint as web-pervs in disguise? That would include any money used for the upkeep and maintenance of the sites, if it was derived from the sale of child pornography, rather than simply stolen from tax payers as usual.

    I assume child porn pictures, like any other illegal commodity, are fairly expensive to purchase, due primarily to the sellers expense in avoiding law enforcement. So where did all the money brought in from the 11 month sales period end up?

    If the cops made any money at all, I think their activity in operating an abused child porn site should be deemed wholly illegal and all involved should face charges identical to those that would be faced by private-citizen-sellers of child pornography.

    To my way of thought, any person who profits from the abuse of a child, in this case, from the sale of images of that abuse, should face the same penalties as the abuser, regardless of the reasons offered for doing so.

    Its a Mod Mod World

    Its pretty simple really.

    Free Mods are made by awesome people who want to fix things they and many others think suck in the official version of mod-able games, or better, they just want to blow my socks off with their amazing additions and revisions and get kudos and fame in return. As a non-coder gamer, this is heaven.

    As soon as you add the cash angle to the equation, you have mod-makers doing what every other businessman on earth does - try to do as little work as possible and offer as little product as possible for as much money as possible.

    Once you add the profit motive, you end up with nothing but profiteers doing their level best to sell shit as "Shinola"* (*that's an old brand of shoe-polish in case you were wondering).

    And then there's the joy and wonderment of trying something out first and paying later, through donations to those mod makers whose products you liked, without having to pay for products you later find truly suck, don't do what you wanted or simply add undocumented features that you really did not want.

    Kiss that rare joy goodbye too.

    Sure modders deserve to be able to make a living off of their work and I hope that most actually do somehow make money from their labors. But as far as I'm concerned, as soon as you add the cash-up-front thing, you're going to lose quality instantly.

    And lets face it, if Bethesda is going to pay these modders and put their company name on the resulting products, you can bet your socks that every such mod forthcoming will have to follow Beth's 18th century morality rules as well.

    If Bethesda or other game makers were actually run as intelligent organizations, they'd be putting together packages of the best, most popular modders' works and cutting the modders a royalty from sales of these packages as Modder DLCs.

    That way you get modders to work together from the get-go to create super mods. Super Mods would be quality checked by the game company's own coders to insure proper play-through and minimal conflict thru included mod patches.

    That's a Win-Win.

    Does this "system" signal the final demise of the notion of "Innocent Until Proven Guilty", in America?

    After all, if the punishment is administered BEFORE the crime is committed - preventing the victim from actually "doing the crime", just exactly what was the punishment administered for, since no crime was committed??

    Is "Thinking about committing a crime" to become an actual crime, once this sort of system becomes reality? If not, how does Authority explain its "right" to administer punishment upon someone who has NOT committed a crime?

    This sounds a lot more like News From Russia, or Baghdad than America. Then again, this is now a Trumped-Up America, so I guess there's not really that much difference anymore.

    I am somewhat impressed.

    I thought fer sure that the Merchant King would push the stack of Crony-favoring, corporate-written EOs through the system over a 90 day period at the least, in order to make it at least appear as though T. Rump and his Gang of Rich Fascist Mamonites was actually producing them on-the-fly.

    But apparently the Billionaires' coup d'etat has been so successful that they're gonna just drop them all into place in the first month and then happily join in on the now-legalized financial feeding frenzy, along with all the other Billionaire Sharks.

    Not a good time to be poor, non-white, or non-Christian in Amerika. In fact, it's gonna be really a bad time for anyone who is not among the Lofty Ownership Class.

    Looks like they'll be impeaching the Merchant-King a lot sooner than I'd figured at this rate.

    Starting to look like just 30 days now before they'll remove their Ringer and put the real Korporate Klown in office.

    When dealing with people of high faith and low to no intellect, one must realize that only those statements that reinforce their beliefs are ever given credence.

    Of course, one would have to be able to actually believe that the USfed would literally declare a secret war against Terrorists, Hackers and Drug Dealers (all civilian occupations) and simply label all US citizens as suspects awaiting sufficient evidence for conviction.

    Since you're all guilty as sin (the feds just lacks evidence to convict you), your rights can be ignored legally, whenever the Feds deem it necessary.

    One thing about Fascists - they love to use the law to commit crimes. :)

    Apparently this is still beyond most Americans though, so the fascist just keep on winning all the battles.

    Who knows, maybe it really is necessary to bring the whole thing down, before it can be repaired and rebuilt.

    The T.Rump Gang should prove to be a very effective national demolition team.

    I do know one thing for sure, as long as those who have been labelled "The Adversary" think the system aint broken, there is no hope for a fix and all this shit will just get worse.

    It does not matter that what you reported was child porn.

    The simple fact that you get paid by the Feds to examine the image files and anything else you feel like examining on customers' computers is all that the public needs to know about you.

    There is absolutely no way you're ever gonna run a successful damage control op on this one. Geek Squad Employees are now known to be duly designated federal agent employees who get paid on the side, to find criminal evidence on customer computers.

    That is now a known fact.

    While I notice all the posts claiming to be Geek Squadders dwell solely on the notion that ONLY Child Porn is ever found and reported, I also assume this is due to the fact that the Feds only admitted to paying for kiddie porn tips.

    Nobody will be surprised to later learn that searches for drug dialogues, terrorist articles or communications, or evidence of any of the other myriad forms of crime the FBI deals with, are also being searched for by these Geek Squadders, and no doubt numerous other tech company employees seeking a secret second income.

    Simply put, it is now common knowledge that using the Geek Squad for computer repairs is essentially the same as sending your computer to the FBI, and if this impacts the Geek Squad's income, they have nobody to blame but themselves for their gullibility in trusting the Federal Government, who outed them publicly.

    This situation should go far towards showing future would be secret federal assistants such as the Geek Squad, just how shit rolls downhill when working with federal agencies. You're all expendable resources, to be tossed into the fire as soon as the Fed feels cornered.

    There is a lesson here. Hopefully honest companies will now realize the stupidity of trusting the Fed for anything and pass this awareness along to their employees.

    That was the most believable scenario I've read to date on this "Russian Hack" gambit and explains nicely why the "dialogue" is entirely devoid of even the slightest possibility that it was not a Russian Hack.
