    Appeasement is a loser's game for everyone but those being appeased

    If that is true, then I’m not sure this wasn’t the better option. It wasn't, because even if they had to trim some programs in the short term they still would have been fighting back and had a chance of winning long-term when they could reinstate those programs. By caving they might as well have sent the regime a signed letter from those running the collage that all it takes is enough pressure and they'll cave to whatever demands the regime issues, and after this capitulations you can be sure that there will be more demands.

    Yes I'm sure it's just a complete coincidence that he was talking about fighting to 'defend' the country and how they should go down and 'protest' the certification after spending months claiming ahead of time that the election would be rigged/fraudulent and the country was going to be 'stolen' by those fiendish liberals and low and behold the people he was talking to just so happened to find themselves breaking into the building where the votes were being finalized... Well done on the BBC for falling all over themselves to grovel for forgiveness though, as recent history shows that's sure to get Trump off their backs and will not at all embolden him to ramp things up against them.

    Bloody hell, Schumer isn't just a coward that dude is literally mentally ill and has been for years. Imaginary friends are one thing to see in a child but when a grown adult not only believes he has them but bases his political career on what they think... that dude needs extensive psychological help.

    Cowardly way to signal your support for fascism but okay...

    Premise 1: Companies like Nintendo and Microsoft are prone to going legally nuclear if someone uses one of their properties without permission and it garners enough attention. Premise 2: The regime has used properties from both companies, Pokemon from Nintendo and now Master Chief from Microsoft. Premise 3: Neither of them have filed lawsuit or even objected to the use of their properties. Conclusion: Both Nintendo and Microsoft support the use of and association with the regime and it's actions.

    Played right into republican hands

    If there's one thing you can trust career democrats to do it's snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Right after a wave of democrats wins across the nation, right after the public showed that they were done with republican rule and were on the side of the democrats they decided that it was time to fold and show that they were bluffing the entire time and that all it would take it is for republicans to wait long enough and the democrats would fold like rotted cardboard. They not only gave up their only bit of leverage in exchange for nothing they ensured that the next time they think they have any leverage the republicans will just laugh in their face, safe in the knowledge that all it will take is waiting the democrats out. They can lie to themselves all they want about how this was a 'strategic move' and the result of careful calculation but they just did more to damage the chances for a blue wave come the next year than anything the republicans have done to date. Not only did they just devastate the trust people might have had in the party to hold the line and defend them but they also provided all the fuel republicans need to turn the whole shutdown on the democrats by pointing out that after enough democrats turned the shutdown ended, meaning the democrats were responsible for the government being shut down, not the republicans. It will be a lie, sure, but plenty of people will buy it nonetheless because that's what it'll look like.

    Republicans have never had a problem with the idea of a dementia-riddled old man holding the highest political office in the US and being in a position to make decisions that stand to impact hundreds of millions of people both in the country and out, their only objection was that it might not be their dementia-riddled old man in office.

Just let that sink in for a moment, what they just admitted. They don't have enough evidence of criminal activity to successfully prosecute the murder victims in court and they know it, so instead of trying them in court they're just declaring them guilty(again, knowing they don't have the evidence to prove it) and murdering them on the spot. 'We know we couldn't win in court so we went ahead and moved straight on to handing out death sentences instead' is the sort of murder-justification that would make the torture memo writer proud. (And as always as damning as it is for the regime to give these orders the military is just as responsible for following them, so well done US military members for continuing to show that the only difference between modern US soldiers and WW2-era german soldiers is the uniform.)

    Dead serious, yes they do. I've no doubt whatsoever that more than anything else they want people to start shooting at US soldiers because then they can point to that as justification not only for their current atrocities but any future atrocities too. Whether foreign or domestic the regime wants people to be as violent as possible towards it so they can use that as justification for their power-grabs and brutality, and the reason the keep ramping up said brutality is because so far the only violent ones in the room has been them.

    Of course he fell for it, and I've no doubt that a massive number of his cultists had/have fell for it too, they are all in a post-fact cult where reality is is determined not by what can be shown and demonstrated to be real but by what you want to be real, and he and his cultists deeply want Obama to be engaged in an illegal kickback scheme like that so they can criticize both the ACA and Obama as terrible.
