  How did they do it before

  This just has me wondering where the $598.5 billion budget from last year was spent on.
  we dump so much money into the war machine and they have to go to private industry to help them.

  I think this is what is causing the rise in

  Other forms of media. Hulu, Google, Netflix, Amazon's media service. All these types of companies are gaining a foothold because educated people are cutting the cord and going to them because they are fed up with being held captive. Face it the only way to get rid of some ISP's is to sell your house and move.

  So what happens when

  Competition comes into play we are allowed to have 3rd party STB's, What's to say that they don't start doing things like packet injection, that causes an inferior experience. Or change standards that obsolete the customer purchased equipment?

  See what happens when we open our mouths we bring attention to a potential issue to our enemies, and they've take steps to avoid getting caught. I'm guessing they never, ever thought about encrypting their messages until US government officials started bitching about it to the media. Way to go law enforcement for making us more un-safe with your rhetorical dribble and whining

  Apple has a whle planet to sell to

  What if Apple just refused to sell iPhones in New York if this law was passed? What would the outcome be? I'm guessing that some elected officials may be looking for new jobs after the next election. In the interim would the state of NY be willing to compensate those hack accounts compromised do to lack of encryption?
  How would this affect the financial institutions based in NY?
  Would they leave for another state that allowed encryption
  
  How are these people in office proposing laws on something they don't fully comprehend

  Case of justice gone wild?

  Not sure how this helps the younger generation learn and become more stable a human, if anything it puts a stigma on them from their peers and local communities.
  
  How did we get from the hippie generation of love and freedom to the oppression of our youth in such a short amount of time?

  Isn't that the reason he served

  He seems to forget that he and his forefathers(along with me and mine) fought for that right to "toss a flag".
  It's considered free speech.
  A right that he served for
  And lets face it it's a 14 year old "kid", what does he know?
  
  I wonder how he is at his job. a true educator would probably take this as a learning opportunity.
  Instead he would rather ruin a kids life.

  these are the people that are teaching our young

  It really seems to be absurd that in this day and age these are the people shaping the minds of our children.
  if this was a threat to the well being of other children then this was the perfect learning vehicle for a young mind.

  I often wonder

  If Google decided to block all traffic from Germany how would they deal with that -- of course then you have other search engines and I'm guessing after a while they would be hit up with the same absurd thing. Reminds me of being in the military back in the 70's, and the locals saying they didn't want anyone from the base patronizing their shops and establishments, so the base closed the gate down after 6 months they begged to have our $ again. the point being do they actually know what they are asking for?

  Wonder what the fall out would be if

  People just didn't fly for a specified amount of time
  How much money would the Airlines lose before they demanded a different approach to airport security.
  
  It has always amazed me that Israel has no such procedures in one of the most volatile area of the world yet they have one of the safest airports in the world. The whole thought of that makes me wonder if there is another hidden agenda - or have we Americans just gotten stupid with fear.
