They're all failing and got merged

They are all failing and it's because of the massive buyouts in the late 90s/00s. There were laws limiting how many TV stations you could own and radio stations. Bill Clinton did away with all that in 1997. Bloomberg in particular is VERY left wing and people have had it with the hate Trump bandwagon. The TRUMP RALLIES are JAMMED PACKED! They were on the same day the media said his ratings were somewhere in the (30s). Their words not mine.

So now with a failing TV Station as their BS is called out they have to catch up and reshuffle but they don't realize the core of their problem.

The biggest news media mergers happened under Bush we lost what little independent news we had. 90 percent is owned by USA Today so if you go to a news site chances are it has the same exact look because it's owned by that and Gannett Company (If I spelled that right).

Statesman Journal used to be independent but bought out all the local town papers so are tied to it and then after that was subsidized by USA Today so now they all shake hands.

This is dangerous back door monopolies and they don't bother to try and compete so you don't really have a choice just an illusion. This is NOT capitalism anymore. I am not even sure what to call it but it definitely isn't capitalism.

Trump tried to stop this crap but eventually caved in like the rest. He has to look into his own mirror first. Frankly I wanted Ben Carson having the world's best brain surgeon being well respected we wouldn't be in a crap storm right now. He knows how to do the poker game better then Trump.

Trump just does what he knows how to do which is egg people on like as other people described "poking at a hornets nest" to get them to react and expose themselves.

He knows what they will all say. NONE of this is a surprise to him.

    Re: I don't get it.....

The idea behind news being free is paper less society. We were promised the web would allow us to be a paper less society and make it cheaper then paying dozens of workers to print materials. Now it seems the opposite has occurred. Not sure where we went wrong though one thing the switch to phones only makes it hard for creativity and we now have ass ugly graphics to match the low powered phones. On a computer it is awful and it makes keyboards not work right as you will find skipping letters and stuff whichoffline doesn't happen. The reason for that is phones don't have a keyboard. I am not sure what it's called but it's not a keyboard. One person said they have to use their pinky to do it. I'm like WTF? I took typing classes and learned also on Mavis Beacon. Now all that is thrown out the window. With phones there is no 'home row' technique or centering yourself.etc. I feel sorry for today's kids as phones are just apps NOT software. Software is LOTS of code often unique to that product. Apps coding is generally universal so the next set of developers can keep it updated though often dumb it down for the next set of bozos. Minecraft on Windows 98 is an APP as it's simple to do once you know how to do it. Doesn't take a team of rocket engineers to handle. Now the Kerbal Space Program on Steam now THAT'S a challenge even Triple AAA teams wouldn't dare touch for liability reasons.

    Re:

When it's just one pay wall that's no problem. When the whole web becomes paywall (which it pretty much is) then it IS a problem as most people do not keep track or have a hard time. You can easily get into the hundreds of pounds just in news services alone. Again I can understaind paywall for entertainment but not critical news.

  • Feb 06, 2019 @ 04:50am

Some information like roads and weather articles should always remain free as it can determine life and death. "Entertainment" articles I can see being paid that don't impact roadways or infrastructure.

    Re: Needless to say....

Not sure if my comments will ever see the light of day on here either but Google for years went with Watson AI. The kind that lost without feedback.

Look up Watson AI vs Jeopardy the one that's an hour long due to Q and A at the end. Google and other companies bought these robots. Watson kept getting skunked by the world champions until it could receive feedback from other players to improve it's answers.

  • Jan 14, 2019 @ 12:35pm

    Alt news sites

In fact the Watson Google uses does NOT allow feedback hence why Google is now just a digital yellow pages. I am not sure how much hand Google plays in censorship or if it's simply what the AI believes people want.

If enough people click on a certain thing the Google AI (Watson) assumes you want it when you type the keyword in. So if a lot click on Snopes even hitting the back arrow after not liking it still counts as unique traffic hits.

The AI assumes everyone must want Snopes.com when searching for this thing so puts Snopes at the top of the list each time. That's also why Tom's Hardware always shows up even though Tom isn't really that helpful. Most of the replies are like "Ummmmmm did you try compatible settings?" Even if the OP says they did in and more in their post.

People do not seem to read these days.

    Alt news sites

Funny that alt news sites for the most part still allow comments and most of them are not spam until you get about half way down. Then you finally get to the people hashing it out. I call them keyboard warriors. The left wing sites are fast on the hammer. Fox has a weird system of randomly removing comments from select articles and Reddit Google only shows archived threads. Reddit now all you get are spammy replies from people.

WW3 is going to be done digitally no need for nukes or even the threat of a high altitude EMP. No it's going to be online and controlled at the top. The right have the radio and the left have the web. Always been that way but more so with the rise of phones and the decline of geeks running the show.

This will lead people to want........no I mean DEMAND a world order to fix things.

  • Nov 27, 2018 @ 07:38am

The liberals also have done this for a long time and are now just getting called out but is Trump really any better? https://www.amazon.com/Crapitalism-Liberals-Millions-Swiping-Dollars/dp/1476750424

The problem with electric cars is the insane amounts of coal needed to burn in order for everyone to plug them in. These cars require a LOT more electricity we don't have under normal conditions. Also there is a legit shortage of the materials that make the batteries.

There is attempts using "Geo Engineering" schemes since the end of the Bush era to try and melt the North Pole because there is lots of resources trapped under there plus a north shipping lane would be installed for Russia but all it does is heat up our planet in some areas and make other areas frigid.

They use fly by coal ash for example to spray our skies with heavy metals.

  • Nov 27, 2018 @ 07:35am

The dumbocrats had PLENTY of time and power to reverse this dumb stuff but instead all they care about is electric cars and living in a dream world or in their minds we will all die in X amount of years.

They recently just said we will all die in 10 years so they are pushing that again.

This is the end result where it goes.https://www.amazon.com/Myth-Capitalism-Monopolies-Death-Competition/dp/1119548195/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1543332882&sr=8-9&keywords=capitalism

While we are at it might as well ban used video games from working and thrift shops.

Anyone noticed since the Trump era crack downs have suddenly gone wild? It's almost like he is trying to censor free speech but that couldn't POSSIBLY happen except under liberalism right?

"Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Meet the new boss! Same as the old boss!"

This is no longer a capitalist society. It is a globalist one at best and tyrant at worst. Socialism just makes those people powerful in the hands of government where they bail out crappy companies and you are forced to have the bad product or go to prison.

Then you see "WARNING YOUR PC IS AT RISK! DOWNLOAD HERE!"

Internet censorship and today's millennial snowflakes

The problem is today's generation and the one from the 70s on up are taught pseudo capitalism and junk science in favor of evolution "which has been proven false in court" but they don't have a concept of voting with your wallet.

What that means is when a company or organization falls to evil practices or censorship then don't support them or their products period! That means going to their forums or complaining about them expecting you to somehow be heard. Today's generation loves to bang against brick walls. I'm not sure the fascination with it. I've done it a few times and admit guilt but didn't like it when I did it. :(
Going to a forum like this and complaining about a website without doing anything about it is stooping pretty low and like threatening to sue an airlines which for all the trouble you go thru you get a free flight ticket.

Now it's good to give the company or group feedback and encourage others to do so likewise so before you know it thousands of people are doing it and change occurs otherwise the best you'll get is a free airplane ticket.

    Re: Re: 911 overload

You should only be charged if you make non emergency calls as you tie up the line.

  • Dec 27, 2017 @ 11:39pm

911 number should be for life and death emergency only if you or someone you know is having a life threatening experience. We have had police incidents where we had to call the police but unless it's a dire emergency we always used the department number.

If a car crashes and injuries are minimum they wouldn't investigate anyways as a priority no matter how many times you ring their phone.

911 is abused in so many ways you would think twice about it if you knew what kind of calls actually go thru.

  • Dec 23, 2017 @ 01:39pm

    Phones

Plus most people are on phones and don't read past the headlines. Google and other search engines uses Watson AI that guesses what people want and what they want is just entertainment and driving directions.

  • Dec 23, 2017 @ 01:38pm

    Tried of political bullshit

People are tired of political BS being spewed and are calling out on it plus paid trolls that causes two people to cuss or argue with each other over the same stupid thing usually the wrong thing over and over and over and........

It's a hassle now to even have a comment sections. Until there is limits on how you advertise and we have a separate internet for phones and desktops it's just going to get worse not better.

People close their ears at anything requiring physical labor on improving our network. Too bad as that's what it takes.

Me and my caretaker were looking for a mid ranged laptop for him to take when he see's his clients and also do medium range gaming. It was very hard finding one that wasn't either super expensive in the 1,000$ range or a dog that could barely run the OS.

A lot of them will make a big deal but if you look at the power supply it will often say something like (350 watts) which is barely enough to power the machine on) You want AT LEAST 500 watts or more to run some basic 3D software and not have any components burn out a month later.
It's a way to scam you.

Most reviews you will see people buy computers generally for business only and don't even mention gaming or they ask "Can this Dell play Battlefield 4 if I swap in a graphics board"?" on the old dog that can barely turn on.

You will see A LOT of optiplex machines now which used to be buried in the results in 2009. These optiplexes are the dumb business machines that aren't geared towards gaming/graphics.etc. They have parts non configurable.

Been burned twice on them. Fool me once. Shame on you. Fool me twice.............

Most sites I see (unless it' a Right vs Left) article the commenting is pretty much dead. I will often see articles with only a few comments each that are niche.

Reason why is (due to following trends with computers since Commodore 64 as a kid doing educational stuff) it's now harder and harder to find/build a computer. The people that knew how were old when computers were at their peak in the late 90s/00s (Bush era). These same people are retired thinking about kicking the bucket or dead.

This generation is sadly the ones that grew up playing video games on the original Xbox that only know FPS games or casual Candy Crush style.

There has been (at least) two generations born since the 80s computer and video game era who don't even know you could do things offline.

I have a caretaker who's little 10 year old brother was shocked you could play an older Starcraft RTS game offline on his 32 bit Windows XP. He (The brother) was totally amazed at the gameplay despite older graphics the game was actually better then modern FPS games with brainless AI since the focus is more in online chat where people ask "R U REDDY?" type chat speak.

*Actually I admit I don't know how to do chat speak very well*
