I don't use the voting options very often because they are unbalanced. With the choices of "insightful," "funny," and "report" you have two positive choices, and one really negative choice. My suggestion is to add "disagree" and to remove "report" and replace it with "inappropriate." This would provide readers with a more balanced list of options, while providing you with statistics to facilitate the removal of abusive commenters.
Number 2: Could a larger question be how can an army private access so much secret information?
This one I can answer. Security clearances have nothing to do with rank. I was in the military and handling classified information at age 17 (over 30 years ago). I was a telecommunications specialist. We were the ones who had to keyboard the information so it could be transferred, and the ones who sent and received the information. Officers couldn't type!
Many of us ARE awake and aware of the threats to our liberties. The problem is, we are the minority and we don't have any clout. Too many people simply don't care.
Good article and good comments. But what I keep asking, and nobody can answer, is why DHS was involved in the first place when it seems pretty obvious to me that it should have fallen under the FBI's jurisdiction?
Anybody know where I can find an org chart that would explain who reports to whom? Which acronyms outrank the others?
I think the concept had good intentions, but it failed in part because some of us opted to boycott flying altogether. I disagree with both the nude scanning and the body searches based on the 4th Amendment.
I predict (and hope) that this issue is far from over. I have stopped flying, but my elderly mother lives out of state and her health is failing. Sometime soon, I may have to fly on short notice. When that happens, I will do my best to not raise any flags, and hopefully just have to go through metal detectors. But if I get selected for an "enhanced" search, they better be prepared to physically restrain me, or arrest me. I won't let them do it willingly.

Corruption
The corrupt never admit to being so.
Margaritaville
Jimmy Buffet should sue, then retire in Margaritaville.

Fair Use
I'm not an attorney - but doesn't this fall under the description of "fair use" for non-commercial, educational purposes under the copyright laws?
DHS vs FBI?

Why I couldn't "Opt Out"
