    I find many of his ideas compelling, but he goes too far on the foreign policy front. One thing you CAN say with confidence regarding Paul is that he has been fanatically consistent and in your face as to what he is pushing for.

    I would be very surprised if Paul flipped on anything; even with heavy industry pressure...No, you can criticize Paul for a lot of things, but Mitt-flopping is never going to be one of them...

    So you're content to allowing wealthy individuals to be the only ones in the game? If that was the case right now, these bills would have passed. No Google? No Public Knowledge?
    Content? No, that is not the right word as every individual citizen has a right to support whomever they choose; regardless of personal income or wealth.

    I fail to see how eliminating corporate personhood would eliminate organizations such as PK or Google. Just because they couldn't contribute to a politician financially, there is no reason why they cannot still work to organize citizens who WOULD contribute individually or express their opinions publicly which would be free speech. Money is not free speech, it is a tool and tools are inanimate...
    How do you get around the Constutional provision and court rulings that allow redress of grievances by individuals and corporations?
    I don't see the rulings as valid and contend that such will be overturned in time. The real question here is whether a corporation has the ability to seek redress without being declared a "person". I say they do as they have been doing this in the past without needing "person-hood".

    Don't confuse the ability of a corporation to petition the government and courts with contributions to a politician's campaign chest. The former I have no issue with, the latter leads to unbridled corruption. There is a fundamental and important difference here that you are brushing over...

    Actually it can be more simplified than all of that minus a duty for constitutional challenge when appropriate. Simply force three important things on DC:

    1. One subject at a time: any/all proposed legislation MUST be related to a single topic and that any bill that includes "additional purposes" be filed in the round, green cabinet until/unless any non related content is removed and placed within its own, unique bill,

    2. Read the bills: Each and every Senator and Representative must read and fully understand a bill before they can vote for or against it. This means they MUST read and digest the entirety of the bill with an appropriate level of personal research if it is a subject they have no experience with, and

    3. No corporate money allowed in politics: No company, corporation, or enterprise should be allowed to contribute to any political campaign, candidate, or political PAC/foundation/what-have-you.

    Anything less than these changes will perpetuate the current, broken system...

Which is why we ought to be exceptionally careful about doling out quick and powerful punishment for those involved in infringement. After all, the supporters of these things never know when it might just come back to bite them directly...
    Sue Lamar into the ground for this I say and let him experience the pain he would try and inflict on the American people before he pushes this nonsense any further...

    Make him spend time and money defending himself in court rather than trying to get reelected.

Think about it...with some contemplating something as complex and expensive as a private satellite network, how much easier and cheaper would it be to create a rogue banking group that would be stepping all over themselves touting their immunity to US jurisdiction and laws?

    It would be child's play to get around this; especially if customers were able to funnel offshore funds into the system.

    There would be hoops to jump through definitely, but it would be far cheaper and easier to set up and maintain than a private sat network...

    And this is the strength of a single payer system; regardless of who the single payer ends up being.

    No regulation, just good old fashioned Bazaar-level haggling to get the lowest price with the highest quality. While you were able to get a price break in a bad economy, imagine the savings power 100-300 million participants can extract during any economic situation.

    The market, to run efficiently needs to have equal power on both sides of the transaction to get the best results at the lowest price point. In your case, you had access to three competing labs whereas someone in a rural community may have access to only one - the math is compelling and no limited vouchers required...

    This is nothing more than a blatant move to see which side coughs up the most money. If the tech sector starts pushing cash barrels at the Dems, and out paces Hollywood, SOPA/PIPA die. If the other way around, they live.

    Make those supporting this legislation pay by sending them home permanently - money only goes so far if they don't also get the votes they need to keep this nonsense going...

    Ironic perhaps, but that is the problem when it is ok for agents of the government to abuse children and potentially place them in a life threatening situation due to incompetence. It is sad when the only reply is one where I am advised that I am being naive and that I should just accept that no one in power will ever be prosecuted or punished for the crime that took place in this instance.

    IFO think it's about time to change that type of general attitude and expectation by scaring the hell out of anyone who would even contemplate being lazy or incompetent when the life of a child is on the line...

    Someone at ICE needs to be prosecuted for child abuse in this case. Regardless of whether or not the child lied, the fact remains that she was a 14 year old. I expect the agents responsible will enjoy their stay in prison and will be an adequate lesson to anyone else that would place a child, any child at risk because they were too lazy to actually verify who it was they had in custody.

    Doesn't anyone at ICE check the Amber alert system now and then at least?
