But pirates don't. Most people pay and that is why they still make money. That is why the entertainment industry is making more money than they did last year. They don't deny artists money. We want our content without DRM, we want to watch and read what we want and only have to pay once. We just want the content industries to hear us and give us a product that we to want buy. Most people will pay for the content. But most people don't want to pay for something and then pay again and again and again and again for the same content. That is what they want.
If you think that is good then just find a cave to f__k yourself in and enjoy.
I just want a loser pays plus damages legal system.
It has always been about getting more money. I dare anyone to prove me wrong.
I think that the a fine should be implemented for false DMCA takedown requests. Lets make it Legal fees plus 50%. So the cost is 150% or the cost to defend.
Please inform us BS people of where we have gone wrong. Show us. Teach us. Provide us one fact.
You won't because you can't.
Billions a day? Come on even you are not that stupid.
Piracy does cost but it also helps. Read more Rhetoric less.
What I am saying is let's not go to a gun fight with a knife. Believe in a world where everyone debates on the facts and strive to create that world but face reality as it is and not as you wish it to be.
So they just need to go down. Period.
So those for ACTA are spreading a lot of "disinformation"? Why can't those against it also? In love and war in matters not who was truthful only who won.
I agree that we should not lie or distort what ACTA is, but I also say bring on the hype like only the internet can. I understand that we should not sink to the levels of Hades that the MPAA/RIAA et al does but really in the end all I care about is that we beat them back at ever turn until they are forced to come begging to us the consumers for a way to do what we really want. Which is get the content we want, how we want, at the time we want for a reasonable price without being hassled.
That is all we want. I am willing to pay but only for that which I feel I am getting my monies worth.
If the internet has taught us anything it has taught us that only when knowledge can be freely shared does it's value rise to the level it should.
Just think of all the millions of hours of time lost forever because scientists and researchers wind up recreating information because it was not easily found.
My own experience is different. I went back to college for an advanced degree. The college I was at start off with us paying for our text books and we would also get access to an e-book for one price. This for me at least was the best. I don't like to read a book that is a thousand pages long on a computer screen. So I would read the text and use the electronic version to make notes and highlight, etc...
Then they switched to only e-books and we still had to pay the same price. I changed schools after that but not before making a hard push with a lot of students joining me to fight against it. The college basically said too bad. Besides myself I know of at least 14 other students that also changed.
The part that makes me the most angry. I still have the text books I paid for, but not access to the e-books that I paid the same amount of money for.
edit: Meant "Except" not Expect. x-)
It is everybody's responsibility to help our dying business model survive. Search engines, the government, blogs, everybody!
Expect us! We don't need to take any responsibility for our own success or lack of.
Yes, but they are also less involved in the world. They have to be by virtue of size and money. The US is a world leader. So they can either lead which will piss off some people or they can set aside and piss off Americans.
Which would you do if you were the US?
See censorship never works!!!!!! The citizens of the world will be heard!!!
In this column about Free Speech I just posted a comment to the Madlib comment by Lobos with a list of my own and it was held for Moderation!!

If it wasn't for all these freeloaders downloading stuff for free then we would be making a lot more money from our investments and IP.

Yep, true. As the largest economy in the world and the most powerful country everything we do is going to be fraught with mistakes and missteps. But the US has done more than any other country in the world to promote those ideas. We send billions of hard-earned tax dollars to other countries to help them in a lot of different ways. Including promoting those ideas.
As for China mainly keeping to itself. I don't think those in Taiwan or Tibet agree with you.
You side-stepped one important point that
The AC brought up.
Google is not elected, Governments are.
Re: Re: Takedown requests should have a method of redress.
Wow! Agreed! They can appeal but innocent until proven guilty!!! Amen!!!
