  I too think there should be a proper balance. And that balance is *no* searches of a person's phone calls or email or internet activity without a court approved search warrant.

  Microsoft Corporate Culture

  Microsoft culture can be seen in everything they do. It is all about the needs of Microsoft and never about the needs of the customer. This is the main reason they are losing market share in everything in my opinion. The personality of the company has always been one of selfishness, bullying, and fear. I don't like their attitude. I don't like the way they do business.
  
  BTW, I feel exactly the opposite about companies like Google and Amazon. They make mistakes, but their hearts are in the right place.

  Hulu revolving windows are the stupidest invention of all time. It makes me use the service less. Is that what it is for? Is that what they want? Else why keep doing that? Studies must show that it makes people use Hulu less. They must!

  No video is must-have. If it isn't on netflix chances are pretty good I am not watching it. So if you want me to watch your stuff, put it on nflx. My Q is already long, so it will need to get in-line. You should be working to get me to eyeball your junk, not making it harder for me. You are doing a great job of making yourself irrelevant.

  By being so slow to provide a way to pay for the content they are teaching people the free way to get content. Then, when they finally provide a pay service for the content it is laden with DRM and time constraints and thus cannot compete with the convenience of the free way that people have already come accustomed to.

  You do it gradually over time... no crash. You are using the same tired arguments that keep us from actually fixing anything or doing anything beneficial. Oh, noes, if we do that all these bad things will happen. Then you paint all the extreme worst case scenarios that would happen if we were stupid about how we went about it. Conclusion: can't do it. It's off the table.

  That is the most annoying thing about Netflix. You remember seeing something while browsing or put something in your Q a while ago. Now you feel like watching that thing and you search for it but it isn't there anymore.

  Not only that, but he has an overinflated view of himself. He assumes that because he cannot handle something no one else can either. He thinks he is at the top of the ladder when really he is at the bottom. Unable to look in the mirror and admit that he is broken and inferior he seeks to drag down the rest of us to his level.
  
  This guy demonstrates the same faulty reasoning that has brought us the War on (some) Drugs and has made gambling illegal. Calling for laws to counter your own weaknesses only makes things worse for everyone.

  We Were a Nielsen Family

  About a year ago I got the call to be a Nielsen. I asked them outright on the phone if I should fill in the stuff I watched on Netflix and online. The operator said "yes" without hesitation. However, the booklet they give you to fill out your viewing record is awkward for online stuff. I ended up watching it online but then saying I watched it during normal time slot (ie. lying) Netflix stuff I just didn't report even though Netflix is about 50% of what gets watched here.
