  I think the single most recognizable contribution of the internet isn't JUST communicating with other people at an instant for little to no cost. It's the dissemination of information. Having actual communication engineers tell the world (more or less) why or how the CIA is doing what it is doing. And even more recently, initial studies by civil and bridge engineers theorizing on why the bridge in Miami collapsed, even before the official investigation has started.
  
  Having ALL kinds of chefs and food critics disseminate cooking stuff, from Alton Brown and Gordon Ramsay, to Binging with Babish.
  
  Sharing of different art forms and entertainment across the world unprecedented because of RIAA and MPAA, from those weird Japanese TV Game shows and anime to Dr Who to American TV/Movies that would take years to cross the borders, if at all.
  
  The near instantaneous and archival powers of the internet means we know when the President says something, and it is remembered, forever. And we can paint a picture of their personality, for better or worse.
  
  And has been pointed out in other comments, the internet really is the largest single collection of human knowledge since the Library of Alexandria.

  Trump is a fascist, pure and simple. He DEMANDS loyalty. If you did not vote for him, you made an illegal vote. He praised/is praising Duterte, who instituted executions of SUSPECTED drug dealers, not convicted, suspected. He praised Erdogan as his men attacked US citizens on US soil. He praised President Xi as he became president for life in China. THEN SUGGESTED WE SHOULD DO THE SAME. *Here's where Trump is an Idiot, before 1952 we did NOT have a term limit on the office of the president, it wasn't until FDR's 4th term that everyone said, "you know, maybe we should have a term limit." And do we even have to discuss Putin/Trump yaoi relationship?

  Republicans, by and large, are also complicit. They do not want to govern, they want to rule. Any Republican that puts party over country is (or at least should be) guilty of outright treason, or at the very least sedition against the United States. By defending Trump, they are also defending all of the above leaders I have talked about. Oh yes, John McCain will be "Very concerned" but is unlikely to do Jack and Shit about it. The simple fact is, To many Republicans, being Literal Hitler is better than being a dirty commie treehugging hipster Democrat, Even being Literal Satan is better than that.

  it also i perspective. "Golden age of television" is dependent on who you ask. Some would say I Dream of Jeannie, or Happy Days, or MASH was the golden age. Some others would argue Knight Rider and A-Team and Airwolf and Magnum PI was the golden age. It also is dependent on what kind of programming you are talking about, TV shows? Sitcoms? Weekday Afternoon Cartoons? Saturday Morning Cartoons?

  Trump is half right, I will give him that...

  He is right that the media is a powerful influence on the minds of young people. THAT is all I will give him. What Trump and his menagerie of twat-waffles is doing, is deflecting blame from THEIR media sources onto those devil worshiping liberal hippies with their vidya games, rock and roll, comic books, D&D, and pre-marital/teen sex.
  
  They conveniently leave out the "Everyone who is not a white male is coming to rape you in the ass and steal your job." narrative. Or the "War on 'Christians'/Christmas/Jesus" narrative. Or the "War on our "Southern Heritage" narrative.
  
  And as a final thought, a post I read on Reddit: "Would you rather have these kids pretend to be spec-ops in Call of Duty/Planetside 2/Battlefield, or would you rather have them pretend to be spec-ops with an AR-15 in the real world?"
