Theaters pay studios around 90% of their receipts for the first week (although this is negotiated by each theater chain. That is why the popcorn is so expensive - they are making a lot more money selling candy and popcorn than they are making showing the movie. If the theaters could get concerts, sporting events and other large venue events on their big screens they might come close to wanting to stay in business. Imagine a football game in 4k resolution on a giant screen!

MPAA uselessness

I just remember what happened with the music and film industries saying that the cassette tapes, VCRs, CDs and then DVDs and so on would kill their business and then it turned out to be a huge money maker. How can the MPAA be so wrong so much of the time and have no major studio notice. Are they giving away yachts to studio execs?

why tell the truth

when a lie will do as well. Seems to me that it is about time that the journalists start making up the news themselves since they cannot report on what is actually happening. In no time the legislature will let them in since they really wouldn't want ridiculous articles about how the legislature wants to sterilize people who make less than $150,000 (or whatever their salary is).

the solution is to charge a copyright birthing fee. when someone is born the parents are charged a lifetime copyright payment of let's say 4 million dollars. that entitles their child to download, copy whatever painting, photograph, music, video, movie or some other as yet undiscovered thing (like quantum tele-transporting the entire earth to another universe) for free.
