I give the president a fail for this. The librarian of Congress Reports to him. He is the one who can order him to change the rule.

    Re: Hmmm...

Yes the press is in the tank for the Republican's. That is why President Obama's current Treasury Secretary was the one who had the idea for the sequester. The Obama administration pitched the idea to Harry Ried. The president attacked the Republicans in October for trying to undo the sequester. Now he is blaming the republicans for the sequester. Nice job keeping power accountable. Or lets look at a story from yesterday. Obama administration stands up to Librarian of Congress over people being able to unlock their phone. That was the gist of about 80 headline. The only problem is that the librarian of congress is part of the Obama administration. Obama is the one he reports to and he is the one who can replace the Librarian of Congress.

    Re:

I am having difficulty telling separating your description of Congress from President Obama. President Obama has been doing nothing but fear mongering about the sequester. The sequester was an idea that came out of the White House and was pitched to Congress. In October, President Obama was attacking the Republicans for trying to undo the sequester. How does President Obama avoid any blame for grinding the wheels of the government? I guess he does this by getting out front and blaming everyone else. Is this what passes for leadership now days.

President can replace Librarian of Congress

The president can replace the Librarian of Congress. This has happened in the past. So the person who can fix this is President Obama. Let's see if he will fix it. If he does not we can hold him responsible.

How did the President escape blame?

Why are you just blaming Congress for this? The Obama Administration went on a tour to push for this. They negotiated the final bill.

Public and Private research lead to the Internet

I find it disturbing that there is such strong objection to the claim that the Internet was privately invented, but there was very little objection to the claim that the government created the Internet. It is very often claimed that the Internet was government created. Obama even used this as a basis for his claim that "you did not create your business" to business owners. It is no more false that private business created the Internet than the government created the Internet. Netscape, Yahoo, Compuserve, AOL, BBN, PSINet where companies that helped create the Internet we use today. Most of the content for what we call the internet was privately developed. If you object so strongly to the claim that Internet was developed by private industry, why do you not object to the claim that the Internet was government developed. Neither is the full truth.

  • Rep. Paul Ryan Comes Out Forcefully Against SOPA After Reddit Pumps Up Opposing Candidate

    Paul Ryan is collateral damage

So Paul Ryan is collateral damage in this instance. Poor reporting caused people to claim that Paul Ryan supported SOPA. This then spurred people to raise money for his opponent.

This may not have been innocent since Paul Ryan is probably the Representative that the Democratic party would most like to see defeated. His budget proposal changed the discussion over the past year, from stimulus to fiscal responsibility.

There is a rational for the governments stance

There is a rational for the governments stance. It might be weak, but it is there. The rational is that he is validating the information that has been leaked was classified. The only person who could do this would be someone who had access to the classified information. The rest of us would have no idea if information was a fake or the real thing. Someone who had seen the real thing could identify which information was really classified and which information was made up and claimed to be classified.

Embarrassing. (To be fair, Sky News and the Guardian also claimed she'd been found guilty - just not quite in so much detail ...!)

So I guess the Guardian got it wrong too.

  • Can Someone Explain How Sponsoring NASCAR Is A Good Use Of Taxpayer Funds, If Funding Sesame Street Is Not?

Re: Re: The answer is amazingly simple...

I have the answer. Sesame Street needs to provide in product placement of the Army, then Sesame street could go after these add dollars. One episode could be the sesame street animals enlist. Another could be them fighting in a war in such a way that people watching want to join the army. That way PBS is funded and the army gets advertising. Everyone will be happy.

    Re: Re: Can anyone say c o m m u n i s m?

He first tried to use a coup (1992) to take over the government when he was a Colonel in the army. He then was elected and nationalized massive swathes of his countries industries. This pissed off a lot of rich and powerful Venezuelans. There was a Coup. The US refused to recognize the new government (At which time he was either in custody of the Coup) and the Coup fell apart.
